Welcome to the official site of the online 2014 LMA EDITORIAL CONTEST. This system also allows LMA to electronically archive all entries and make them available for review.

How does it work? It’s as easy as 1-2-3.

  • Step 1 – Account Set-up: Even if you entered this contest last year or entered previous Local Media Association contests, you MUST create a new account for this current contest.

    Click on Create an account now in the login area on the left. You will be asked to fill in the name of your newspaper, circulation classification and all contact information. You will only need to enter this information once regardless of how many categories you choose to enter. Upon submitting your account information, an email will be sent to you to confirm your temporary username and password for this contest. Take note that this username and password can be changed at any time by simply clicking on My Account.

  • Step 2 – Understanding Your Entries Page: When you log in for the first time with your temporary username and password, you will end up on your entries page. This page is the one you will refer to whenever you want to submit new entries, edit exhisting contest entries already submitted, upload files or proceed to the payment of these entries. Submitted entries can be modified up to the contest entry deadline – not after the deadline has passed.

  • Step 3 – Submitting Entries: Simply follow the step-by-step instructions for submitting each entry and uploading your material. There are several file formats acceptable for uploading your entries. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact LMA headquarters at: (888) 486-2466 or hq@localmedia.org.

    OBJECTIVE OF THIS CONTEST:
    LMA's most popular contest of the year includes thousands of entries from members across North America. This contest recognizes editorial excellence in four (4) different circulation classes that separates dailies from non-dailies/weeklies. The Editor of the Year and Journalist of the Year awards are decided in conjunction with this contest.

    Recognition in LMA contests is a valued commodity and winners can proudly boast their accomplishments in marketing & promotional tools. Your readers, advertisers and staff will be impressed by the accolades bestowed upon their suburban newspaper from a national organization representing over 2,000 suburban and community newspapers from across North America.

    ELIGBILITY REQUIREMENTS::
    Open to LMA member and non-member newspapers.

    ELIGIBILITY:
    All entries must have been published in your newspaper(s) between September 1, 2013 – August 31, 2014. Entries must be published by suburban and community newspaper publishing companies.

    Each company or newspaper may submit an unlimited number of entries within each category, as long as the entries are submitted in the proper circulation class in which they qualify. In other words, if you have separate editorial efforts for each of your company’s individual newspapers, you may submit separate entries for each newspaper, but the circulation class you enter is to be based on the total circulation in this situation.

    You need only submit one digital original (see File Formats for more information) of each individual entry or of each element comprising one entry. PDF tearsheets are accepted but must show date of publication. Where requested, please submit a brief letter explaining results (see Editorial Contest Category Descriptions for complete requirements).

    DEADLINE:
    Online entries must be submitted online by midnight local time by Friday, November 21, 2014.

    If you have any questions, please contact LMA Headquarters at 888-486-2466 or hq@localmedia.org.
